Home of the famous
Cadre Noir cavalry regiment and a sparkling wine produced by the méthode
champenoise. Many of the local cellars are hollowed out of tufa, a limestone
rock formed around mineral springs. Restored 14th Century Chateau
and museum, open to the public, including the renowned Musée de Cheval
or Museum to the Horse, with riding ephemera down through the ages, plus a collection
of furniture, tapestries and ceramics.
